The Emily Slaughter Community Foundation (ESCF) seeks to create a permanent endowment that would benefit citizens and organizations in communities for generations to come. We provide leadership, expertise and capital to address social issues and serve as a resource for citizens, non-profit, civic, governmental and philanthropic organizations.
The Emily Slaughter Community Foundation (ESCF) seeks to inspire a deeper interest and understanding of community service, leadership development and promoting economic empowerment.
With this giving, we foster beneficial relationships that will allow us to provide effective support to the communities that we serve.
What type of legacy are you willing to leave?
For over a year, the Emily Slaughter Community Foundation has sought to inspire a deeper interest and understanding of service and benevolence to the community! Our three (3) areas of focus are:
- Senior Community Support.
- Scholarship & Education (Healthcare – Certified Nursing Assistants).
- Community Engagement and Empowerment.
1. Senior Community Grant
Through charitable giving, the ESCF provides a one-time Senior Community Grant to assist seniors (seniors in hospice) in extraordinary or unforeseen expenses that are outside the realm of their hospice care. For example, the ESCF was afforded the opportunity to award a $250 grant to a senior applicant that was admitted into hospice, but was on a fixed income. The applicant was unable to purchase groceries and needed assistance with restoring their electricity. The ESCF realizes that these circumstances are critically important to the comfort and peace of mind for patients and their families.
As a newly founded Foundation, the ESCF has awarded over a dozen Senior Community Grants Scholarship & Support:
2. CNA Community Scholarship
The Emily Slaughter Community Foundation also provides a $500 one-time scholarship for individuals interested in pursuing their certification as a certified nursing assistant. Scholarships are provided through their academic institutions. Students interested in applying for the CNA Community Scholarship must:
- Complete the ENTIRE application.
- Be enrolled in an accredited CNA Program before applying.
- Have a high School Diploma or GED.
- Complete the required essay (included in CNA Scholarship Application).
3. Community Engagement & Empowerment:
The Emily Slaughter Community Foundation and its team has a desire to impact the community by working collaboratively with community members and their leaders, while serving as a catalyst for personal and economic growth! We have a desire to make the Emily Slaughter Community Foundation a household name that not only leaves a legacy, but assist community members in leaving their own legacy. Through leadership programs, life skills training (Resume Workshops, Workplace & Table Etiquette, Time Management and Budget Balancing), and providing the community with careers, internships and volunteer opportunities.
As we achieve this, we foster beneficial relationships that will allow us to provide effective support to the communities that we serve.
The ESCF provides scholarship and funds directly to the recipient’s school and will be a one-time scholarship in the amount of $500. The Emily Slaughter Community Foundation scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, age, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
